At Y Learn and Swim, located in Brown Hill, Ballarat East, our ELC has been planned to provide rich, safe environments to initiate learning, inspire creativity and spark curiosity. Our focus is on developing a warm, welcoming atmosphere to create spaces where children feel safe to explore and express themselves.

A child’s early experiences and interactions will shape their knowledge of themselves and the world around them. Our educators act as facilitators: encouraging, promoting, and reinforcing a child’s attempts, questions, skill development, and discoveries.

Children are curious from infancy and have a desire to learn from their environment and those around them. Our task is to nurture that innate inquisitiveness by encouraging children’s questions and explorations.

Our educators guide and support children to develop new skills and understanding. By providing experiences that are challenging, yet attainable for every child, children are encouraged to progress from needing assistance to being able to achieve tasks independently.

We recognise that children are inspired to learn when they feel actively involved in
their own learning.

Through following the interests of each child, providing choices and building in relevant short and long term projects, our program maximises opportunities for children to learn and grow.
